Global Warming, Oil & Industry

It is becoming ever more obvious that our oil hungry industry is breaking the planet. Global Warming is a daliy phraise & ever more of the population are accepting the fact that something needs to be done & that climate change experts are not modern hippies.

One problem I see is that there is little financial profit in doing something about the problem. Many are willing to come up with ideas but few are willing to invest to make the ideas a reaity.

An observation I just made, having watched a documentry recently about how we are going to have to change our lifestyle and farming habbits due to a non infinite source of oil, is that our use of oil is a major cause of the climate problem.

So if global warming is a problem & eco experts are predicting that we need to reduce our carbon emissions to prevent servere damage to our planet in 2-3 decades time
AND
if there isn't an infinite source of oil & experts are predicting that we will encounter major shortages within 2-3 decades then by default the problem is going to solve itself. What we need to do is make sure we are ready for the culture shock that follows.

All we need to do is make sure we are able to live a less oil dependant lifestyle. If we can do that now then we will have a much greater advantage when the time comes.

But all that said, and with all the daily evidence before us we are still reluctant to change because we don't know for sure, we can't see the future, and we are comfortable where we are.

Maybe one day climate change & global warming will be terms of the past and the in phrase will be culture/lifestyle change & global reforming.

Michael Jackson 'was' a legend

His music was loved by millions, it can allways be found on my music player. He was a great artist who was incredibly successfull.

But the emphasis is on the word 'was'. He was great. We all know he developed the nickname 'wacko jacko' as a result of his excentric behaviour. This behaviour has become his downfall.

MJ died earlier this year at only 50 years old & because of his fame the media has gone crazy. The legal authorities now have an obligation to answer the questions surounding his death, the media won't let it go until they are satisfied. So we all get regular updates in the news regarding the lasted developments.

Two things have become very clear. MJ's excentric behaviour probably coupled with his genuine medical condition has left him addicted to perscription drugs which he was taking excessivly, to the point that he would take drastic action to obtainhis drugs & that they were making him ill rather than better. The other thing is that there are a number of out there demanding justice for his death with a number of his doctors being in the fireing line.

My biggest fear is that the public's demand for justice will see someone locked up more harshly than they deserve. While a Dr has a responsibility to witholld medication to prevent excessive use if a patient 'uses other means' to obtain his drugs, effectivly going behind the Dr's back then it is out of their hands.

What I'm trying to say is that if MJ was using 'legal' drugs beyond their perscribed use and beyond the Dr's advice then his death is nobody's fault but his own. But many will not be satisfied with that conclusion because a 'legend' would not do that to himsef. It would be a disgrace. So under pressure from the public & media, the blame unjustly falls on someone else.

I need to update my blog.

It sounds so easy. Make a regular contribution to my blog forever and I will have some kind of record of what I did in years to come.

I used to keep a regular journal, I found it hard then and obviously at some point it became too hard to persue as I stopped. Am I too lazy? Am I not prepared to make the time? Or do I think I got nothing to say?

Take now for example. Other than this blurb I can't think or anything else to write about. Do I have to make my life sound interesting? If I want to have a record of my life and things that I did then I guess I need to write about it interesting or not.
