The last time I was enraged by a shocking story was when the government were proposing to allow abortion agencies to advertise in the media just over a year ago.
This time two judges have ruled that, a couple that have fostered children in the past, when they reapplied to foster again, were unsuitable candidates because the could not say that they would tell a child that homosexual behaviour is okay.
This is in despite of all the good work they have done for previous children & that they intend on having children of about 8-12 years old in their home.
There has been a lot going on in the world with sexual equality. The 'gays' want the same rights as everyone else. To some extent I don't disagree with this. And the laws of our land have embraced this.
But to oppress a majority group (i.e. those with traditional religious beliefs) in favour of this minor to be seen as a government embracing change & all ways of life is taking things too far. I'd even suggest stupidity.
It seems that in an effort to regulate everything common sense is being thrown out of the window. Simple decisions are no longer simple but complicated drawn-out procedures. I know I'm not alone in thinking this (part of the majority in fact) and it is the means of a whole other debate.
But these regulations have, in this case, and many others like it, got in the way.
This couple will be declined but I will be willing to bet another couple who does not discourage a youth to drink, smoke or be disobedient once in a while will be approved as foster careers.
Note that Sir Elton John & his gay partner, David Furnish, have recently adopted a young boy.
I ask what will be next? Young couples being declined the ability to adopt because of what they believe? Then will it be the monitoring of parents ensuring that they do not teach their children anything contrary to what the government says should be taught? The government issuing curriculum's to parents ensuring the children are being taught correctly?
These ideas may sound extreme but this behaviour of denying the right to foster because of their beliefs is the start of what has been described as dark times ahead.
